Covid-19 Artist Statement

Artists often work in isolation, with the hope of sharing their art works as they develop and upon completion. The COVID -19 epidemic has heightened my sense of working in isolation. I also have more time for daily activities at home including time in my art studio!

I have, after a long time, completed my first “large” oil painting: "Together." This piece reflects my interest in Flora Bowley’s work thus adding to the ‘togetherness’ feeling of creating it. It speaks to the poignancy of being “apart together” during this pandemic, an essential situation for the well
being of everyone.

Exploring the meaning and actions required with COVID’s reality has broadened the thinking and exploration in my art studio. I’ve had time to explore creative ways to use epoxy resin, with acrylic paint and pen drawings , on various substrates. In this time of uncertainty I feel peaceful in my studio, pondering both hues and humanity.
